SUMMARY
The business development manager (BDM) will generate company awareness, create and manage a sales pipeline, and develop lasting relationships with our prospective clients with an overall goal of achieving corporate profit and growth goals. The BDM works with the branch teams to identify quality landscape maintenance, snow removal and enhancement prospective clients, build estimates and proposals, and sell contracted services to those prospective clients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Attend networking and marketing events on a regular basis, representing the company in the marketplace and various industry organizations and events
· Develop sales plan with Branch Manager for each assigned territory
· Proactively canvas markets to seek out new business opportunities
· Cultivate relationships with prospects to create leads and possibilities for new business, prioritizing opportunities to pursue in accordance with the company's market focus
· Drive sales process from initial contact through strategy, proposal, presentation & successful conclusion of new business opportunities
· Generate field measurement estimates and take-offs
· Develop contracts and review proposals with Branch Management and resolve any issues that may arise
· Serve as a liaison to ensure new customer accounts are successfully transitioned to the Operations Team
· Regularly attend staff meetings
· Lead sales meetings to engage staff in sales cycle and provide updates to goals
· Assist production teams on renewals on specific accounts
· Perform as an important member of the team working cohesively to achieve all branch and corporate goals.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience and Education
· Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Turfgrass or related major is a plus. Associate degree or relevant experience will also be considered.
· Ability to comfortably have conversations with clients; people of all backgrounds.
· Experience in Aspire Landscape Operating System preferred. Experience with other operating software will also be considered
· Minimum 3 – 5 years new business development experience within a relevant industry
Language Skills
· Must be able to read, write, and converse in fluent English with clients, co-workers, government representatives, and the public at large.
· Basic Spanish conversational skills a plus.
Computer Skills
· Create, Interpret, edit, and print information using Excel software application.
· Create, edit, and print written documents using Word software application.
· Open, create, send, and receive inter and intra-company e-mails.
· Manage contracts and enhancement sales in Aspire Enterprise software.
Mathematical Skills
· Must possess a basic knowledge of addition, subtraction, multiplication & division.
· Ability to calculate the following: percentages, area, circumference, volume, and diameter by use of basic geometric and other job-specific mathematical calculations.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
· The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, handle, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, and hear. Occasionally, the employee will climb, or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and /or move objects up to 75 pounds. Vision ability includes close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
· Employees in this position are periodically exposed to outside weather conditions including extreme cold, heat, wind, and rain. Employees are occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals. Employees are occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.
Special Skills and Licensure
· Valid resident state Driver’s License with approved acceptable driving record.
· The candidate must pass DOT physical and drug screening testing
